note: i took a lot of creative licence with this story, but the dinosaurs are all as true to life as scientists know today (except the velociraptor - i stuck with the film interpretation of that precious thing).

oh god. i'm only on friday so far, but i am SO EXCITED that i had to comment already. DINOSAURS. JURASSIC PARK AU. i am so excited.

Gerard hesitates. It's Thursday, and he had his last shower on Tuesday. He's not due yet.

AMAZING. Your fondness for the source material is evident and admirable, and I am just really really delighted at this whole thing so far. I AM SO EXCITED BY ALL OF THIS, EVEN IF YOU END UP KILLING EVERYONE I DON'T CARE BECAUSE DINOSAURS ARE AWESOME THIS IS AWESOME. (seriously, you're keeping people pretty in character and there are dinosaurs and and and. \o/ my only thought so far is you perhaps went a little pairing-crazy? but. BUT DINOSAURS. \o\)

AWESOME! So fucking awesome, seriously! I really admire the way you juggled the enormous cast, and the story was funny, dangerous and exciting. I swear I went "no! don't cut away NOW!" and then five minutes later I was saying the same thing about the new scene.

And I would -love- to see sequel stories featuring these people (where did Nate and Gabe end up? Alex and Cash? What did Suarez do and why's Ryland occasionally Ripley? *G* And does Ian and Shane turn into Victoria's very pretty boytoys?)

omg, the cast. so fun to handle, but so much trouble! i think at one point, brendon was in three places at once, and there was a name mixup with colligan&conrad, and i had sooooooo many lists.

and the cutaways! i'm evil, right? cliffhangers are totally my best friend. :D

the sequel is a definitely possibility. i mean, i want to write it, but like i've been saying: it's a matter of finding the right story to tell. i alluded to a sequel, for sure. it might be a while coming, or it might come out in a month. idek. keep your eyes open ;)

OMG. I got to the part where they blew up the ship, and they CAN'T FIND RYLAND. And so I had to stop and dance around my room for a bit. THIS STORY IS SO WONDERFUL.

Holy Hell. Amazing. I cannot begin to describe how wonderful this was and how realistic it was. It was its own novel. I totally forgot that it was bandom based because the characters took on their own lives, and it was fantastic. Amazing. I spent 3 hours on Christmas reading this story, and it was AMAZING.

It was an fantastic read! There is so much things packed into it. Anything with dinosaurs is epic really. And the scene with the exploding Tyrannosaurus pretty up add to that epic-ness.

OH, MAN. I really have no idea how to respond to this - I've been reading all day (and sending steadily more hysterical emails that started at "Oh, wow, this makes me want to be a scientist" and ended at "HOLY SHIT NO REALLY HOLY SHIT" to resigned friends) and this is just, so huge and complex and incredibly well thought out. Your action sequences are pretty incredible (the T-Rex! Jon & Spencer escaping dinosaurs! The fight down on the beach!) and really scary, in that I was totally flailing around and making choking noises for most of it. And then on top of that there's such brilliant characterisation in this, how absolutely no character was left neglected (I had to send an email at one point that said "OH MY GOD I LOVE RYAN J. I DO NOT REALLY KNOW WHO HE IS BESIDES THE WHOLE EMPIRES THING BUT I LOVE HIM.") and just - it wasn't pairing overload at all, it was perfect, and I am going to reread this over and over and over again. Brilliant job.

first, first, first: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RECCING ME. seriously, you have no idea how much it means. i lovelovelove the way bandom pushes stories at each other - it really widens the pool of who's reading what. plus, i love thinking that the story meant so much to you that you had to share it with others! that's really wonderful.

ahahaha, i'm glad to hear you read it all day. like, it's awesome, knowing that it's so engrossing. it pretty much ate up my whole december. it's good to know it was worth it!

& if i had to assign genres to this, it would be action/romance, for sure: i'm a huge fan of action stories. my bookcase will tell you that. i hope i captured it all down with words, how it appeared in my head. it's super fun writing action scenes, but also tricky to pull them off effectively; you have to get the reactions right, at the right times, you know? so it's good to hear that i got it right. :D

RYAN J.! actually, i sort of neglected al & max - they both only got mentions. /o\ they'll have to pop up in the sequel, don't you think? :D

oh my GOD. I just spent four hours tearing through this story. Every time I thought it was getting near the end, SOMETHING ELSE WOULD HAPPEN. I don't even think I can remember all my favorite parts by now. All of the parts where you left us hanging, definitely. Vicky-T talking Brendon through the shoulder wound. Taking the wrong part of the plane! Suarez being wanted for murder in Massachussetts, what the fuck. Ryland sometimes being Guy Ripley! Shane is Ian's favorite cousin. The initial reiterations of "time is not important here!" only to end up going through the story by an hourly timeline. Conrad being a badass! Actually talking about the shower (sorry Jon). These are all totally out of order, but whatevs.

I was kinda sad at Trace and Bert and Quinn though. Red shirts :/

Wait, did Nate and Gabe die? Did I miss that part? By the time we started getting into the Special Forces guys I started reading faster and kinda lost track of some people. Actually, I have a couple of questions about things that maybe I just don't remember being cleared up. Hmm.

oh my god, like I even CARE at this point, that just gives me an excuse to go back and re-read. I love the way the Jurassic Park is tied in, and the changes you made to it, and VELOCIRAPTORS SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME. I love all the snarky-narrator voice bits, like really? they knocked out 20 people? really? wow. because that was pretty much what I was thinking at that point too.

ALSO PATRICK :/ :/ :/

also, when the first plane is about to leave, you have a couple typos -- Alexis and Jon both talk about Sergeant Colligan not being off the plane, instead of Sergeant Conrad, although Cash has a line right before then.

I'M GLAD YOU LIKED IT SO MUCH. like, spending so much time with it. that makes me happyyyyyyyy :D and i kept trying to get it to end, but there was just so much to be told, you know? like, i've still got scenes in my head that could have slotted in there, but they'll have to wait for the sequel, i guess ;)

honestly, i was not sad at trace, but i was sad at bert&quinn. well, someone had to die, right? no dinosaur story is complete without someone getting eaten. and those three would probably make a tasty meal.

... i can't tell you that. it's a surprise! but keep an eye out for them in the (possible) sequel, i think, because gabe was such a fun bad guy that i couldn't possibly kill him.

VELOCIRAPTORS SCARE ME TOO. \o/

PAAAAAAAAAAATRICK. patrick was one of my favourite characters. he was so complex. :D

OH HOLY JEEZ.

I, too, just devoted about five hours to this fic and I could NOT CURRENTLY BE HAPPIER OH MY GOD. This was seriously one of the most amazingly plotted fics I've read in a long time, not to mention it featured fantastic characterizations and well-told backstories throughout. At turns charming, terrifying, and breathtaking, this fic was an absolute adventure to read. I wish I could figure out how to say more but I honestly loved it so much I want to go back, right now, and read it again until the sun comes up. And then again after that.

I only wish there'd been a Brendon/Ryan coda, but I'm a greedy bitch with a tinhat so don't mind me. ;)

I'll be totally honest here, I was so dubious about this when I first clicked on it, but omg. I couldn't read it fast enough.

I agree with everyone else, that the characterisations of the characters are spot on (I think Brendon was my favourite, but I'm heavily biased). The back story and how they all interconnect was also really well done. I like how you worked in the 'myth' of the original supposedly fictional tale, instead of simply retelling the story of the book/film.

I also totally agree with the person above who wished for a Brendon/Ryan coda. In my tinhattedness the only thing missing was Brendon/Ryan sex lmao, but that is a minor thing that I can just imagine happened.

i'm sort of biased towards brendon as well. BRENDON URIE PWNZZZ. but anyway. it all just sort of fell into place, you know? like this was a story that was meant to be written. everything was sort of already there waiting for me to write it!

maybe you'll have to wait for the sequel for bden/ryan, eh? ;)

Hi! Wow. This is amazing. The level of detail and description, seriously awesome. As I was reading, I was thinking, Jon/Gerard is the OTP I never knew I needed, and then the Frank/Gerard kicked in at the end (with a pet dinosaur!!!!!!) and just, guh! Plus Suarez/Ryland(!), I love the way you wrote it!

This is one of the greatest things I've read in a long time. Totally worth staying up for :D Great, great job \o/

Also, I hope it's okay if I friend your other journal. I always get excited when I find other Aussies in bandom :D

IKR? jon/gerard totally surprised me. it was like, that bit on the plane, where jon flirts with gerard? i was totally like "oh. what just happened?" then i thought about it for a moment and when "OH WELL THIS COULD BE FUN." and it turned out way more awesome than i expected. :D

i think the whole time i was writing suarez/ryland i kept thinking 'suarez doesn't want to be the bitch suarez doesn't want to be the bitch. oh who am i kidding, he's totally the bitch.' \o/

Quick nit-pick, because this one bugs me: about two fifths the way down the page on Thursday you have Alex using 'genii' as the plural of 'genus', which is incorrect. The plural of 'genus' is 'genera' (the same way the plural of 'opus' is 'opera'). 'Genii' is the plural of 'genius', technically speaking.
